Ava DuVernay and Autumn Riley

Ava DuVernay is a Californian born in Long Beach on 24 August 1972. In her early years, DuVernay's Aunt Denise helped her develop a love for the arts and her creative side. Her aunt was a registered nurse who worked shifts at night so she could spend the day to literature, art as well as theater, among other things. DuVernay was exposed to the movie of 1961 West Side Story by her aunt. DuVernay discovered that art can be powerful in promoting social activism. DuVernay had a mother who was socially aware and showed her how to use the arts to find a way to express her feelings. DuVernay who was born alongside her extended family at Compton was a summer resident in Lowndes County Alabama in the house of her father's family. The father of DuVernay's remembered watching the Civil Rights movement's historic march through the Edmund Pettus Bridge, in neighboring Selma Alabama. DuVernay was able to use the summers she spent there to inspire her next film, Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. DuVernay was a graduate from Saint Joseph High School Lakewood California in the year 1990. She then attended an institution called the University of California Los Angeles where she earned diplomas in English as well as African American studies. DuVernay began to develop an interest in journalistic broadcasting while in school. DuVernay was a journalist intern at CBS News at the time of the O.J. Simpson's trial. DuVernay recalls being asked to investigate the waste in the house that belonged to a member of the jury. When she was dissatisfied with journalistic work by the assignments that she was assigned, the journalist decided to pursue a career in the field of publicity. DuVernay was hired for her first gig as a publicist at the small studio that she worked in after college. In 1999, she established her own business of public relations called The DuVernay Agency. She also started several promotion and lifestyle networks, such as her own Urban Beauty Collective. Autumn Riley.............................Autumn Riley was born in Los Angeles United States.
