Andrea Mitchell

Andrea Mitchell, an American journalist and a commentator working as a commentator for NBC News in Washington D.C. She is also a television anchor. She graduated with a Bachelor of Arts in English literature from the University of Pennsylvania after growing up in New York City. Mitchell was recruited as a reporter at KYW Radio and TV Philadelphia in the year 1967. 1996, she joined WDVM-TV Washington DC, a CBS-affiliated station (then WTOP). She was hired by NBC News Washington two years after that as an general reporter. In 1981 began working for the White House and became chief of the congressional reporter in 1988. Mitchell was appointed the Chief White House correspondent in 1992. And Chief Foreign Affairs Correspondent at NBC News. Mitchell was a guest in the TV news program Meet the Press as a host and panelist. She was a member of an audience for the 1988 debates between George Bush (then president) and Michael Dukakis. Mitchell is the spouse of Alan Greenspan who was former chairman of the Federal Reserve Board. In 2005 Mitchell received the prestigious Goldsmith Career Award for Excellence in Journalism from the John F. Kennedy School of Government and, in 2004, the Radio-Television News Directors Association (RTNDA) honored Mitchell with the Leonard Zeidenberg Award for her contribution to the protection and protection of First Amendment Freedoms. Mitchell's first White House coverage was for NBC News, between 1981-1988. It was a time when both Ronald Reagan terms in office. She reported on a variety of interesting stories such as arm control, budget tax reform as well as the Iran-contra scandal and traveled extensively with President Reagan to meetings alongside Mikhail Gorbachev and other world leaders.
